Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project (ICZMP)

This is a World Bank assisted Project . Fund is placed by World Bank to Institute of Environmental Study and Wet Land Management who manages the fund. Total project cost is Rs. 60 crores. Jadavpur University is engaged for Soil testing, Survey, design & drawing and B.O.Q.

  • Civil Engineering is doing. Total cost Rs.25 lakh + Tax and 50% i.e. Rs.12,50,000 has been paid.

  • Architecture Dept. is doing design & drawing and B.O.Q. Total cost – Rs.25,00,000 + Tax and 50% i.e. Rs.12,50,000 is paid. 25 Multipurpose Cyclone Shelters (MPCS) are to be constructed in South 24-Parganas under ICZMP.
  • Institute of Environmental Studies and Wet Land Management (IESWM) a State Govt. undertaking is authorized for construction of these 25 shelters.
    Fund:
    • (1) World Bank
    • (2) Rs.60 cores for 25 shelters as estimated by Jadavpur University
      Site selection (by Disaster Management) Survey, soil testing (by JU) complete.

    • Design, Drawing and preparation of BOQ by Jadavpur University is in progress.
    • Final report has been phased out
      Phase - I Phase - II
      Pathorprotima Block : 5 centres Gosaba Block : 7 centres
      Sagar Block : 5 centres Basanti Block: 5 centres
      Namkhana Block : 3 centres  
      Total - 13 centres Total - 12 centres
    • Two types of shelters have been approved:
      • Type A (Big) – 382 Sq. Meter
      • Type B (Small) – 347 Sq. Meter
      Jadavpur University will submit all document related to construction.
      • 09.12.2013 for Phase-I
      • 16.12.2013 for Phase-II
    • Monitoring and supervision will be done by Project Management Consultant (PMC) to be engaged by IESWM.
